Moventra is a tracker, not a streaming service — it links out to where you can watch. - Available in 12 languages; non-English pages use a locale prefix (e.g. /nl/, /de/). - Installable PWA on any device, plus an Android app on Google Play. No native iOS app yet. - Owned and operated by Webbestek (Netherlands). ## About Moventra Moventra is a free movie & TV tracker, build your watchlist, follow series, log the episodes you watch and discover what to watch next. Then you’re straight in: we ask one question, “tap anything you’ve watched”, so your dashboard has something in it from the very first minute. Your @username is assigned automatically, and we only ask you to choose one the first time it’s actually shown to someone else, like following a friend. You can change it any time in Settings. **Picking what you’ve watched** Right after sign-up we show you a wall of posters and ask you to tap anything you’ve already watched — that’s what fills your dashboard on day one, and tapping a series that’s still airing is what switches on “new episode” alerts for it. Don’t recognise anything? Search for a title or pick a genre to change what’s on offer. You can skip the whole thing, and you can come back to it any time from the “Pick what you’ve watched” button on your dashboard. **Verifying your email** We email you a confirmation link after sign-up. Open it to unlock everything. Didn’t get it? Check spam, or request a new link from the banner at the top of the app. **Is Moventra free?** Yes. Tracking films and series, your watchlist, following friends and basic stats are all free. Plus adds extra features, see the Plus section. **Finding your way around** Discover is the home page with trending and recommended titles. Movies and Series are the full catalogues. Your dashboard, watchlist and stats live behind your avatar in the top-right. **Light or dark mode** Use the sun/moon toggle in the footer, or set a fixed theme in Settings → Appearance. Your choice follows you across devices once you’re signed in. **Keyboard shortcuts** On desktop you can fly around without the mouse. Press ? any time to see the full list (or use the “Keyboard shortcuts” link in the footer). The ← / → arrows page through lists and step a title’s cover gallery; g then h, m, s or d jumps to Home, Movies, Series or your Dashboard; j / k move between titles in a grid (Enter opens the focused one); Cmd/Ctrl-K or “/” opens search; and Esc closes any dialog. **Sending feedback** Found a bug or have an idea? Open Feedback (in the footer) and send us a subject, a description and an optional screenshot, you don’t even need an account. We’ll confirm we got it, and you can follow it on the roadmap board as it moves from “For review” to “Done”. Signed-in users can upvote others’ ideas; your description and screenshot stay private to you and our team. ### Tracking what you watch (https://www.moventra.app/help/tracking) Moventra remembers everything you watch so you never lose your place. **Want to watch** Add any film or series to your collection with the “Add to collection” button on its page and choose Want to watch, your save-for-later shelf for things you’re interested in but aren’t watching yet. It’s separate from Up next: a Want-to-watch title only moves there once you start it (set it to Watching, tap “Start tracking”, or just tick off an episode), so shows you’re not watching yet never clutter your queue. You can also bookmark a title straight from quick search. Find it under My Library behind your avatar. **My Library & collections** My Library is where everything you track lives. Each title sits in exactly one bucket, Want to watch, Watching or Completed, and the heart marks Favourites separately. You can also create your own custom lists like “Comfort shows” or “Watch with friends”. Use “Add to collection” on any film or series page to pick a bucket or drop it into a list (or make one on the spot); the little caret beside the button is a quick-pick for power users, and once a title is in your collection the button turns into “Remove from collection”. Open My Library from the account menu to manage everything. The free plan includes up to 5 custom lists; Plus makes them unlimited. **Marking something watched** On a film, use “Mark as watched”. For series, open the Seasons tab and tap a season to reveal its episodes, tick episodes individually, or use “Mark season watched” to tick a whole season in one go (tap again to undo). “Mark every season watched” does the entire series at once. Only episodes that have aired count, and Moventra tracks your progress per season automatically. **Fixing a watch date** Marked something on the wrong day? On a film’s page, or on any watched episode, tap the date chip (“Watched …”) and pick the correct day, your history and stats update right away. Dates use your own timezone. **Specials** Extras like pilots, gag reels, featurettes and panels are grouped under Specials (what providers call “season 0”). You’ll find them as a season on the Seasons tab, and you can mark them watched just like any other season. **Watching a series** Set a series to Watching to mark it as one you’re actively watching: you’ll get notified about new episodes and it appears in Up next on your dashboard. It happens automatically the moment you tick off an episode, and the show moves out of Want to watch when you start it. Once you’ve watched every aired episode the series moves itself to Completed, and drops back to Watching the moment a new episode airs. **Rewatching** Finished a film, or fully caught up on a series? A “Rewatch” button appears on its page. It resets your watched progress so you can track the rewatch from scratch, and bumps a “Rewatched ×” counter on the title. If you sync with Trakt, your multiple plays there import as rewatch counts here. **Up next** The “Up next” row on your dashboard shows the next unwatched episode of every series you’re currently watching, with your favourites first. Shows you’ve only saved for later stay under Want to watch and don’t appear here, start one (set it to Watching, or tap “Start tracking”) when you’re ready to begin it. The “mark watched up to here” action catches you up across a backlog in one tap. Click the “Up next” heading for the full-page list, where you can tick off a whole series at once or use “Mark all as watched” to clear every aired episode across all your shows. **Schedule (upcoming episodes)** The Schedule page (in the account menu) is your twelve-month look-ahead: every episode with a confirmed air date in the next 12 months, for the series you have set to Watching and for the ones you already completed. A show you finished long ago reappears the moment new episodes are announced, while series that have ended or been cancelled stay out. Episodes are grouped under the series they belong to, in alphabetical order, and each series shows how many episodes are coming and the run of dates they cover. Air dates come from our providers and can still shift, so episodes further out appear as soon as a date is announced. **Your dashboard** Your dashboard is your home base. The “Tonight” hero resumes whatever you last left off, with the rest of your queue under “Up next”. Below that, “Fresh for you” lists new episodes from series you follow and “Recommended” suggests titles like the one you’re watching. The sidebar rounds up “Your week”, what your crew is watching and a nudge from your watchlist. **Favourites & ratings** Mark titles as favourites with the heart, and give your own rating. Favourites and ratings shape your suggestions and your public profile. **Switching how your lists look** Your Watchlist, My series and My movies can each be shown two ways, Cards (a wall of posters) or Table (compact rows with details). Use the layout switch at the top-right of any list to flip between them. Every item has an Options menu to open the title, mark it watched, add it to your collection, favourite or rate it, and remove it from that list. Set the layout you prefer as the default under Settings → Appearance, it follows you across devices. **Watching official channels** Some series can be watched right inside Moventra via their official YouTube channel, look for the “Watch” button on an episode. It opens an in-site player with the episode list beside it and Next/Previous below, and Moventra remembers the exact second you stopped so you can pick up where you left off. We never host the video; playback is always the channel’s official embed. ### Discovering titles (https://www.moventra.app/help/discover) Search, filter and browse to find your next favourite. **Quick search** Press the search icon (or Cmd/Ctrl-K, or “/”) to open quick search from anywhere. It matches titles and descriptions as you type, and when you’re signed in each result has a bookmark button to drop it straight onto your watchlist without leaving the search. **Searching within a catalogue** On the Movies and Series pages there’s a search box on the left of the filter bar. It searches the title and description and combines with the filters below it. **Filters & sorting** Narrow the catalogue by genre, year, rating, status and duration, and sort by popularity, rating, release date or title. Filters stack, and “Reset” clears them. **Genres** Every genre has its own page (e.g. /movies/genre/action) you can browse and bookmark. Tap a genre chip on any title to jump straight there. **Networks** Series are grouped by the network that airs them. Open the Networks page, or a series’ network, to see everything from that network. **Cast & crew pages** Tap any actor, director or creator to open their page: a short biography, personal details (born, place of birth and more), a “Known for” row of their most notable titles, and their full filmography. Sort the credits by Newest (the default), Oldest, Highest rated, Most popular or Title to find a particular title fast. **Suggestions & trending** Discover surfaces what’s trending and, once you’ve tracked a few titles, personal suggestions based on your genres and history. **Matchmaker** Open “Matchmaker” from the footer to find titles by vibe instead of genre. Move the sliders, horror, cult following, intellectual appeal and more, toward what you’re in the mood for, and matching movies or series appear instantly. Leave a slider in the middle to ignore that dimension. Switch between Movies and Series at the top, and titles you already track are left out. **How “more like this” works** Each movie and series page ends with a “more like this” row. We analyse titles across dozens of taste characteristics and match on the overall feel, not just shared genre, so the suggestions go beyond “same category”. Titles we haven’t analysed yet fall back to genre-based related titles. **Suggest a missing title** Can’t find a movie or show? Open “Suggest a title” from the account menu and give us the title or its IMDb id (the ttNNNNNNN code from the IMDb URL). We look it up automatically, skip it if it’s already in the catalogue, and otherwise add it. You can follow each suggestion’s status on that page. Once Moventra is installed, you can also share a movie or show link into it straight from your phone’s share menu, it opens the suggestion form pre-filled. **Reading reviews** Every film and series page has a Reviews tab with audience reviews and their ratings, imported from TMDb. Long reviews collapse behind a “read more” link, and each review links back to its source. **Learn more on other sites** Want trivia, reviews or the full crew? Every movie, series and person page has a “Learn more” block with links to the official site, IMDb, Wikipedia, TMDB, Letterboxd (movies), Trakt, TVmaze and TheTVDB (series), Wikidata, and official Instagram, Facebook, X or TikTok accounts. We only show the ones we know for that title or person. On a title page the block sits under the details, on a person page under their personal details. Links open in a new tab. **New releases from this year** On Suggestions, press “New in” plus the current year to see only titles that came out this year so far (for series, the premiere date), still matched to your interests and taste and never ones you already track. Ideal for catching what you missed. Press it again to go back to all years. ### Account & settings (https://www.moventra.app/help/account) Make Moventra yours and keep your account secure. **Profile** Set your display name, @username, avatar, bio and timezone in Settings → Profile. You can also add optional details shown on your public profile, location, website and pronouns, none of which are required. Your timezone makes dates and times across the site show in your local time. Your profile is private by default, only you can open it. Flip “Profile visibility” to public there to get a shareable link friends can use to find and follow you. Either way your profile stays out of search engines. **Adult content** Settings → Profile has an optional “Adult content” switch. It’s off by default; turning it on (you must be 18 or older) includes adult-flagged titles in search and in content from friends. The catalogue is family-friendly by default, so you may not notice a difference today. If you signed in with Google and your account shows you’re under 18, the switch stays off and can’t be turned on. **Sign in with Google** You can create your account or sign in with one tap using “Continue with Google” on the login and sign-up pages. We only use it to sign you in. If you already have an account with the same email, your Google login links to it automatically, and you can still set a password later via “Forgot password” to sign in the classic way too. You can connect or disconnect Google any time under Settings → Connections; if you disconnect without a password, we’ll email you a link to set one so you never lose access. **Appearance** Choose light, dark or system theme and your poster size in Settings → Appearance. Preferences sync across your devices. **Avatar & Gravatar** By default we generate a unique avatar for you. Prefer your Gravatar? Turn it on in Settings → Connections to show the avatar tied to your email address instead. **Interests** Pick your favourite genres in Settings → Interests to tune your suggestions. You can change them any time. **Streaming services** In Settings → Streaming, choose your country and the services you use (Netflix, Disney+, Videoland, …). We use this to show whether, and where, you can watch a title. Update it any time. **Connect your Emby server** Run your own Emby server? In Settings → Connections you can link it directly, no Trakt account needed. Create an API key in Emby (Dashboard → Advanced → Api Keys), paste it in along with your server address, then pick which Emby account is yours. We import everything you have already watched, films and every episode of every series, matched to our catalogue by its TMDb or IMDb id, and then keep it in sync automatically once a day. You can optionally bring your Emby favourites across as favourites here too. Your API key is stored encrypted and never shown again, and deleting it in Emby stops the sync immediately. Your server does need to be reachable from the internet for us to read it. This is a one-way sync: we read from your Emby server, and nothing you do in Moventra is ever written back to Emby. **What Emby brings across, and removing something** By default we import everything you have already played. Turn on “Also import my whole movie library” in Settings → Connections and every film on your server comes across too: played ones as watched, the rest onto your watchlist, and a film you stopped halfway keeps its position so you can pick it up where you left off. A title your server knows but our catalogue doesn’t is added in the background, so a later sync can track it instead of skipping it. And if a sync ever adds the WRONG title — media servers sometimes file a release under the wrong entry — just remove it from your library: we remember it came from a sync and never add it back. Those titles are listed under “Kept out of your syncs” on the same page, where one tap allows them again; adding the title back yourself does the same. The same applies to Trakt. **Connect Trakt** In Settings → Connections you can link your Trakt account. We import your watched history, watchlist and ratings (matched to our catalogue), and then keep your watched history in sync automatically every day. After connecting, use “Import profile & genres” once to bring over your Trakt name, username, bio and location and set your favourite genres from what you’ve watched. Or use “Import watchlist” to pull just your Trakt watchlist (films & series) into your Moventra watchlist. This is a one-way sync: we read from Trakt, and nothing you do in Moventra is ever written back to your Trakt account. **Import a text list** Got a list of films, series or anime in a notepad file or somewhere else? Go to Settings → Import & Export, paste it in (one title per line) or upload a .txt file, choose whether it goes to your Watchlist or “Already watched”, then preview and import. We match each line to our catalogue and add the ones we recognise, leading bullets, numbering and a trailing year like “(2024)” are ignored, and nothing you already track is overwritten. **Import from Letterboxd or a CSV** Moving from Letterboxd, IMDb or a spreadsheet? In Settings → Import & Export there’s a CSV importer (a separate one for films and for series). Upload your file, for Letterboxd, any of watched.csv, diary.csv, ratings.csv or watchlist.csv works as-is, and we read its columns and guess how they map to titles, ratings and watch dates. Check the mapping, then import. Films we already have are tracked straight away with your ratings and dates; anything not in our catalogue yet is queued and added automatically, so re-import afterwards to track those too. **Export your lists** Your data is always yours. In Settings → Import & Export you can download your Watchlist, watched titles, favourites or your whole library as a plain-text file, one title per line. It’s the same format the text importer reads, so you can keep a backup or move it anywhere. You can also export your watched films in Letterboxd’s CSV format to take them there, or grab a full backup of your whole library, movies and series, as JSON or one complete CSV. **Calendar feed** With Plus you can subscribe to a personal calendar of what’s coming up. Open Settings → Calendar, choose what to include (new episodes of series you follow, releases of films on your watchlist), and copy your private subscription link into Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook. It refreshes automatically and only shows the next three months. Keep the link private, and use “Reset the link” if you ever want to revoke it. **In-app notifications** The bell in your account menu collects notifications: a new episode of a series you follow, a film on your watchlist becoming available, and “new for you” suggestions, titles we’ve just added that match your interests and that you’re not already tracking. Choose which of these you receive in Settings → Notifications. When you install Moventra to your home screen, the app icon also shows a small badge with your unread count. **Email digest** Turn on an email summary in Settings → Notifications: choose Daily, Weekly or Monthly. It picks up where you left off in the shows you’re watching, rounds up new episodes from the series you follow, and adds a few movie and series picks based on what you watch. It arrives at 7:00 in the morning in your local time, based on the timezone you set in Settings → Profile. Turn it off any time from Settings, or with one tap straight from the email. **Emails when you go quiet** If you don’t open Moventra for a few days, we may send you a short email. There are at most two per quiet spell. The first names the one thing you left unfinished (the next episode of a show you were part-way through, or a title still on your watchlist) and asks whether something got in the way, because a stalled import or a missing title is worth telling us about. The second only comes if you stay away longer and have something on your list: it shows which episodes of your shows came out in the meantime. They never arrive at night, never on the same day as another email from us, and at most once a month each. Every one has a one-click unsubscribe, and you can turn them off under Settings → Notifications → “Come-back reminders”. **Emails for new episodes and releases** When a new episode of a show you’re watching airs, or a movie on your watchlist comes out, we send one short email that evening (around 18:00 in your timezone) listing what’s new. Only titles you track, never recommendations, and at most one email a day. If you get the daily digest, these are already in it, so we skip this email. Turn it off in Settings → Notifications → “Episode & release alerts by email”, or with one tap from the email. The first weeks, your dashboard also offers a one-tap weekly digest. **Two-factor authentication** Turn on email two-factor in Settings → Security for an extra check at sign-in: we email a one-time code each time you log in. **Language** Switch between English and Dutch from the language menu in the footer. The whole app, including this Help centre, is translated. **Inactive accounts** If you don’t visit for a long time we’ll send a friendly reminder, and eventually pause the account. You can always reactivate it from the link in that email, nothing is lost. **Change your password** Change your password anytime from Settings → Security. If you signed up with Google and never set one, use “Forgot password” on the sign-in page to create one. **Active sessions** Settings → Security lists every device currently signed in to your account, and lets you sign out the others in one tap — handy if you used a shared or public computer. Your current session stays active. **Delete your account** You can close your account yourself from Settings → Security: open the small “Delete account” section at the bottom, confirm with your password, and you’ll be signed out straight away and won’t be able to sign back in. If you’d like a copy of your data first, export your lists before you delete. ### Plus & referrals (https://www.moventra.app/help/plus) Plus unlocks the extras; inviting friends earns it. **What Plus unlocks** Plus adds advanced statistics, Year in Review, one-way Trakt sync (Trakt → Moventra), a calendar feed, unlimited custom lists, weekly email digests, data export, custom themes, a customizable dashboard, a custom start page and early access to new features. See the Plus page for the full comparison. **Choose your start page** With Plus you can pick which page you land on right after logging in, your dashboard, Up next, Watchlist, Schedule, statistics and more. Set it under Settings → Appearance. (If you opened a specific link before signing in, we still take you there first.) **How to get Plus** Plus is invite-only for now. Share your personal referral link (find it in Settings → Profile). When a friend signs up with it and confirms their email, you BOTH earn Plus time, and every friend who joins stacks more. **Earn Plus by leaving a review** Once you’ve been using Moventra for a couple of weeks, we send one email and notification asking what you think. Open the review link in it to leave a quick review on Google, and we’ll unlock a few days of Plus for you as a thank-you. We only ask once, and only if you’re actually using the app. The reward applies once per account. **Customizing your dashboard** With Plus you can make the dashboard yours. Tap “Customize” at the top of the dashboard to reorder the widgets in each column and show or hide the ones you care about, your layout is saved and follows you across devices. “Reset” restores the default layout any time. ### Frequently asked questions (https://www.moventra.app/help/faq) Quick answers to the things people ask most. **Where does the data come from?** Titles, posters, cast and episode data come from trusted sources such as TMDb and TVmaze. See the “External services & data” page under About for the full list. **Can I watch films here?** No, Moventra is a tracker, not a streaming service. We help you keep track of what you watch and discover what to watch next. **Is there a mobile app?** Yes, Moventra is on Google Play as an Android app. See the Apps page (linked in the footer) for the download link, how to install it, and what the app adds, or search “Moventra” in the Play Store. It’s the full app, tuned for your phone, and signs you in just like the website. Prefer the web? The Apps page has an “Install web app” button (on supported browsers), or you can add Moventra to your home screen from your browser menu. **How is my privacy handled?** We keep things minimal: your account details and the titles you track. We never sell your data. Read the full Privacy Policy under About. **How do I delete my account?** You can delete your account yourself from Settings → Security — open the “Delete account” section, confirm with your password, and you’ll be signed out immediately and won’t be able to sign back in. Very old, long-inactive accounts are also pruned automatically. **Can I leave a review of Moventra?** Yes. When you’re signed in, open the account menu (top right) and choose “Write a review”. Give a star rating and a short note about your experience. Reviews are checked before they appear in the “What viewers say” section on the home page, so yours may take a little while to show up. **I found a bug or have feedback** We’d love to hear it, use the contact form and we’ll get back to you. **I found a security issue** Please report it responsibly through our contact page with the details. See the Security page for our disclosure guidelines. ## Compare with other trackers How Moventra compares, feature by feature: https://www.moventra.app/alternatives - Trakt: https://www.moventra.app/alternatives/trakt - Simkl: https://www.moventra.app/alternatives/simkl - TV Time: https://www.moventra.app/alternatives/tv-time - Letterboxd: https://www.moventra.app/alternatives/letterboxd - SeriesGuide: https://www.moventra.app/alternatives/seriesguide - Next Episode: https://www.moventra.app/alternatives/next-episode - IMDb: https://www.moventra.app/alternatives/imdb - JustWatch: https://www.moventra.app/alternatives/justwatch - MyAnimeList: https://www.moventra.app/alternatives/myanimelist ## About pages and policies - Our story: https://www.moventra.app/about/story - Data sources & integrations: https://www.moventra.app/about/integrations - API & data use: https://www.moventra.app/about/api - Privacy policy: https://www.moventra.app/about/privacy - Terms of service: https://www.moventra.app/about/terms - Cookies: https://www.moventra.app/about/cookies - Security & responsible disclosure: https://www.moventra.app/security - Contact: https://www.moventra.app/contact - Sitemap: https://www.moventra.app/sitemap.xml
